1 Activity To Do
The focus of this week’s activity is Feedback.
Each day this week, provide some feedback to a colleague, peer or friend.
Often, people associate feedback with things that are either negative or could be improved.
Be different!
Ensure the feedback you give is positive and constructive.
Watch yourself.
How does it feel to give positive feedback.
Also, how is it accepted and is it truly received and heard?
(Thanks to the hotel receptionist I had the pleasure of interacting with this week and the group of leaders developing the future of their organization for providing me with an opportunity to consider and practice giving and receiving feedback)
1 Question For You
This week ask yourself…
What am I frightened of….?
No – what am I really frightened of?
Dig deep and sit with the question.
It is not an easy one. Are you thinking of things quite superficial or at a deeper, more fundamental level?
Notice the level you are thinking/feeling?
How have you voiced this and to whom? How was it for them and or you?
Capture the feelings and thoughts that this question evokes in you.
(I have had a number of experiences over the past few weeks related to health. Loosing my health is something I am frightened of. It has been really beneficial to articulate and explore this fear)
.
1 Idea To Consider
This week consider the idea of inspection or your internal reaction…
Why is it important, and how well do you do it….?
Introspection is a way of achieving self-knowledge when a person observes their internal reaction to events in the external world.
Introspection is motivated by a fundamental human need to examine the self carefully, to explain to themselves why they believe what they believe and whether there is a possibility that their belief is wrong.
This is why I often suggest you notice and capture your feelings and emotions.
What has been the value of introspection and how it might help you and others going forward – if indeed you think it is worth giving time and energy to!
Have a think and consider.
(I have had 2 amazing coaching clients and a good friend share their internal reactions this week. Thanks HM, DK and CM. Introspection at its best!)
