An Activity To Do / A Question To Consider / An Idea To Ponder

To Be More Of Your Real Self With Skill And Brilliantly Lead Others

Brought to you by Dave Levine The Summit Partnership Working With You To Reach Your Summit

1 Activity To Do

One day this week take 15-30 minutes to say thanks to colleagues, friends, family members.

Block out the time in your diary and contact 3 people to say thank you for the work they have done or who they have been.

Preferably do this by phone and speak to them.

Build the habit and why not do this every Friday.

Call it ‘Appreciation Fridays!’

Do it every week!

Capture the response you get and notice how it feels to regularly dedicate time to showing your appreciation.

(Thanks to RW for being a reminder of such a powerful yet simple thing to do and to all the leaders that I have worked with who have embraced this challenge over the past week.)

1 Question For You

Each day this week when you walk into a room at work, at home  or when out and about ask yourself….

What judgements am I making about what I see and the people in the room?

How could these judgements get in my way or indeed help me?

Reflect on this.

Capture the impact of these actions and thoughts.

(It was an amazing first conversation with SW that has pricked my awareness (and hers!) in relation to the judgments we make – thanks!)

1 Idea To Consider

When and where does ‘negotiating’  take place and what does good negotiating require and look like?

This week take a moment to really consider negotiating.

Is it about creating a win: win or might somebody lose?

What does a win really mean to you? What if the other party does not see the situation as you do?

What is your default or preferred approach, and when does it help you, and when may it hinder you?

It is complex – give it some real thought!

Practice and become more aware of your approach and style.

And before entering into any negotiation and before deciding on your course of action, you may first consider:

“How does the other party see this negotiation and what general approach will they likely be using?”

(I have really valued all the opportunities that have been presented this week. A particular thanks to SH and DK for sharing their situations)

Quote of The Week

“It is much more difficult to judge oneself than to judge others. If you succeed in judging yourself rightly, then you are indeed a man of true wisdom.”

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

and a bonus quote

“Nothing has transformed my life more than realizing that it’s a waste of time to evaluate my worthiness by weighing the reaction of the people in the stands.”

Brené Brown

Have an enjoyable week ahead…
